29/01/2005 I took the bus to the Puhoi turnoff. I had decided that I wanted to walk rather than kayak here so set off down the main road. In places the road was a little narrow and with only Wenderholm reserve for relief I made my way to Orewa by road. Orewa was very nice and I stopped to eat here. I stayed on the road all the way to Long Bay. I am afraid to say that I did not particularly enjoy this last half of the walk. When Te Araroa is complete much of this will be on tracks.
